day 30

Today we had the usual lessons in the morning with Mr An lecturing about Taoism and Buddhism. After class we rushed back to the hostel to send our laundry as well as completing our presentation 2 slides . then in the noon we had bpe presentation 2 , this time everyone managed to present their slides before the cleaner came to close the door. After the presentation we went for steamboat again with some of them, this time the bill came up to 200 yuan which had beaten our previous record 100 yuan . We ended the day by taking a stroll back to the hostel .

I feel that the people working at the shops are very friendly they can remember us even when we did not patronize their stall for few weeks . Comparing to Singapore hawkers they are less friendly they tend to be busy doing their own things rather then walking out of their stalls to chat with their customers . Living in the same estate in Singapore for so long i realize that the hawkers that have patronise so long don't really know talk to their customers except taking orders or collecting payment but here in china they really make an effort to talk to us . I feel that its the effort that counts even saying thank you would make a person day.

day 29

We had the usual Bpe lessons today and our last quiz for the whole trip. The last test marks the end of the module which means that our trip here in wuhan is ending soon. We went back to our hostel for a short rest and headed out for a student gathering organized by the china students. Edy and roy went to perform for Mde then we ended the day by celebrating gloria birthday at night.

my reflection

over the past few weeks here in wuhan i feel that i am really distracted when i am doing work . Everytime when i wanted to do work there will always be distractions which made me produce sloppy work everytime.Maybe its because of the environment here that changed my study habits , most of the time i am sitting on my bed doing my notes or tutorials then i will find myself falling a sleep after a few lines of blogging or doing my presentation slides which always result in sloppy or late work .

day 28

today we had our usual lessons and quiz in class . Every morning i have to climb 135 steps up the stairs and 135 down, it has become a easier since i arrived in wuhan .I remembered when i first reached climbing up the stairs was not as easy as it seems climbing up and down the steps daily really trained up my stamina . In the noon we went for another industrial visit . The factory that we visited was a pharmaceutical production line. The visit there was quite boring as we were not allowed in to the production line because it might disrupt their production , furthermore we were not allowed to take any pictures even in the open which was quite unreasonable but nonetheless we did took some photos secretly .

my reflection
Today after the industrial visit i realize that these people have done alot to accommodate us in the factory visit. From the way they communicate to us and show us around . i can feel that staff around the building is watching us during the visit making sure that we do not take any photos while we are visiting the company . I feel that they are trying to protect their company secret but they are going to overboard in trying to protect them. Although it wasn't pleasant to be told off but we still have to be thankful to the people at the plant for showing us around the plant.

day 25 , 26 ,27

hi all it has been a long time since i had blog. this is the first post since i have returned from the mt wudang .

day 25

we had our usual IS modules lesson which taught us Chinese business etiquette . After lesson we had our usual lunch and went back to class for our quiz and lecture by mr loh. After lesson we had our evening activities and we stayed up all night till the next day for the trip to wu dang.

day 26

We prepared our baggage and was getting ready to take a bath and suddenly everything went black then noise started coming from the other side of the corridor it seems that the whole school is in darkness due to a power failure . Nonetheless we carried on with our trip to wuhan despite the power shortage . We boarded the bus and headed to wudang . As usual everyone went to dreamland soon after the bus started driving along the highway . Seems like everyone is used to the bumpy ride during such long trips. After six long hours of driving we finally reached the bottom of wudang we had our lunch at the near by restaurant then we took another bus to the midway of the mountain for some sightseeing . After the sightseeing we went to the hotel to check-in our baggage first before heading for dinner at the restaurant .After dinner we ended our day by heading back to collect our room keys as well as our baggage .

day 27
It is the last day of our trip and the most tiring day through out the whole trip.We woke up for breakfast at six in the morning and we had the usual food like mantou, eggs and porridge . Soon everyone was gathered at the foot of the hill to start our long journey ascending mt wudang . After three long hours of climbing stairs we finally reached the peak of the mountain .Then we were brought around the peak for some sightseeing as well as taking some pictures then we headed down the mountain by cable car.

my reflection

After this few days spent at mount wudang i realize that life is full of ups and downs like ascending the mountain there are uphills and downhills . One can relate it to happy and sad events in life but when one is exhausted we can take a short break before continuing our journey . Being in this situation i am able to learn to take a break after a long journey like walking up the steps , as long as one is able to reach the peak he is considered successful in completing his goals.

My reflection

Today I had dinner with the rest of the guys at the fish ball shop. I felt that this few weeks I had made lots of friends during the trip. From participating in group activities’ to dinner we are able to get to know each other better. By being able to know each other we can have a better time here in china as we can share our joy and sorrows together.

not for what can be gotten out of it.

day 23

Today we did not have any class due as we had a leadership course today which was quite fun actually. Before the event I was quite reluctant to go as I did not like these high elements mainly because I did not like the heights as well as lacking of stamina. First we went to assemble at the pavilion at the park beside our campus for some bonding games. We started to draw our flag and make our group costume for the bonding activities; as usual xanier became the leader of the group whereby she led us on to the stage for a small performance. After the performance we headed to the high elements area our first element was rock climbing. Looking around me I can see everyone participating in the games but I felt really reluctant to try but after some struggling I decided to put myself to the test. As got ready and went up the wall the feeling was different. Adrenaline was pumping as I went higher but my strength and energy was depleting thus I had no choice but to end my struggle at the wall. Although I did not climb as high as the others I felt that I had done my best to climb and at least tried. After lunch we gathered at the same place and continue our leadership activities , first we had a trust game where it was called free fall in Singapore where by one person is being tied on top and he/she will be pushed down and the group members have to form a net to break the persons fall. We ended our day by finishing our last high elements and a group photo.

My reflection

Today I learnt that trust is an important thing, for example at trust element game if we are unable to trust our team member’s one would be scared and have second thoughts about falling down. However if u trust our teammates to break your fall you would be less scared and more likely to have a successful fall. Furthermore being in a foreign country the only people we can trust is yourself and our friends thus trust is an important factor in friendship.

day 22 coke factory visit

today the weather suddenly turned warm again , it seems that the weather here in wuhan is quite unstable this few days . It sure made some of us here fall sick easily even mr loh was sick. We did not have any lesson today but we went for a factory visit instead. The factory we visited was a coke factory we had a short tour around the factory visiting the various areas like production line , the mixing facility and many more . After the visit we were told that tomorrow we are having some leadership activity with the china students .I think soon I'm am going to fall sick soon if the weather continues to change .

Today visit to the coke factory was interesting as i was able to use the knowledge i learnt form flexsim to identify the various process. It gave me a more visual experience of the production processes and how things work in a production line.

day 21

today we had our IS lesson on Chinese history on the Chinese believes and religion. I learnt that there are a few believes created during the course of china history , they are mainly Buddhism, Taoism , Confuciuism and some other minor religions . Furthermore thu the course of china history i have learnt some of the famous kings and queens like genkiskan and scholars like li bai , Mr an our lecturer for the day also went thu some of the downfall and rising of the kingdoms and the method of governance they used during their rein. then we ended our lesson around noon . We ended our day having kfc and we went shopping at the mall , i ended up buying a pair of spectacles which cost 278yuan.

my reflection

After today's lecture i learnt that good governance could bring a country a long way while a bad government could lead to the fall of one country also .However without these characters in history we would not be what we are today thus we should learnt form the past and not make the same mistake again.

day 18,19&20 3 gorges dam

Finally I am back to civilization , its time to share my experience of this three days on the cruise around the three gorges dam.

day18

We left the hostel dragging out feet to the bus bay early in the morning. Taking a 5hour bus ride to yi chang was a tiring one as everyone did not have enough sleep , the journey to yi chang was worst as the road condition was not very good the bumpy ride was enough to keep one awake the whole journey. Nonetheless we still slept despite the bumpy ride at noon we stopped by for lunch at a hotel , the food was better then usual we had a wide variety of food which tasted much similar to Singapore's food especially the steamed egg. After lunch we continued our journey to the dams for a short visit before entering the cruise at 9pm .

day 19

On board the cruise we had little or none entertainment as the four star cruise was not what we expected . I think our expectation was a little to high for this trip many of us did not bring toiletries on board the ship , to our surprise the ship did not even provide us with bath towels the toilet was more interesting as the lock was placed at the outside of the door . So teamwork is important on this Cruise when ever we needed to bath we have to ask our partner to lock the door outside before we are able to bath . We went to visit "Bai di cheng and sheng nong xi stream", the scenery was nice although i was not feeling very good after eating the food on the cruise i went ahead with the group to visit the tourist attractions . The boat ride at the sheng nong steam was nice although i find that it was quite a torture for the people to row the boat to and fro the river and they had to pull the boat when the water level was low, furthermore they are paid 30 yuan per trip . At the end of the trip we gave some tips for their hard work as well as help them to keep this trade alive .then we ended our days journey by having dinner at the ship.

day 20

We given a morning call at 5.30 am in the morning to have our breakfast at the restaurant . After having a scrumptious breakfast we headed back to our rooms to pack our stuff and got ready to leave the ship. As the ship got to the jetty it marked the end of the three gorges road trip . It was drizzling when we headed back to land , walking through the winding road turning here and there to reach the end of the boat . We boarded the bus and headed to the near by supermarket to buy some local products as our snack during the journey . I bought some local made biscuits back to the bus and munched on them while on the long bus ride back to our hostel.

my reflection

After this three day trip to the three gorges dam i feel that i have to set my expectations lower and not to compare everything with Singapore. A good example would be the Cruise , comparing a four star cruise in Singapore and a four star cruise in china the result would be heaven and earth as the cruise in china do not provide the basic toiletries as compared to the extensive products available on a international cruise .Furthermore i feel that the people working at those tourist attractions are being used as a human slave , after hearing the tour guide talking about their daily lives i feel that people working here in the tourist industry are quite lucky as they are being paid fairly for their effort. However although the travel industry in Singapore is booming and they show signs of improvement yearly people are still complaining that we do not have enough this and that , it might be true that in Singapore the standard of living is high but comparing us with china's travel industry we are slightly better then the Chinese people .

day 17 written test

today we had our first bpe written test today , 1,5hours was to short for the test i think as everyone was scribbling and trying to finish the paper within the given time. I was struggling too luckily i did managed to finish the paper but i think i will not do well as i left a few questions blank . After the written exam we had our presentation which was a disaster i think a mental block came during the presentation. After the the presentation and written exam we had 'ma la' steamboat again down the street this time the steamboat was not really a pleasant dinner because we ordered the extra spicy soup base . We ended up having stomach upset and the some of the rest puked on the way back to the hostel.

my reflection

After today test i realise that one have to be prepared even if it is a open book test. Being prepared in advance really helps one to perform better in both personal and academic life.

day16 presentationday

today our class had presentation for assignment 1 except our group as there was some problems with the thumb drive. then as usual we had our lessons and quiz for the day.during the presentation every1 was speaking super fast trying to finish their presentation before the person chase us out because he wanted to close the school doors.

my reflection
Today was a disaster as our group presentation was pushed back as the thumb drive had some virus in fact from the computer it seems that everyone storage device is being attacked by some Trojan horse at some point of time. Today i learnt that we have to back up our work in a few places not just at one but a few in case something happens to the first file another back up could be used.
